Budget car hire?
Currently have car booked with Hertz through Andy but the price has dropped lower with Budget. Never used budget before. Anyone have experiences of them? Positive or negative!

What price difference are we talking about please?
Hertz would be my choice but of course it all depends on the savings.

For £20 I would stick with Hertz but that's just me.
I cannot recollect seeing damning reports on here about Budget though. Hopefully some who have used them will spot this.

Whilst always conscious of price, I have used Budget on most all bookings in the past 8 years.
They are part of Avis , generally share desks and have always been excellent for us with good cars (if sometimes limited on choice), courteous service and no issues at all. I am aware that some have mentioned pressure sales at MCO, but I invariably collect mine elsewhere, Dayton OH, Holiday Inn Universal area, Pensacola, Miami Int, Tampa Int, San Francisco Bay Bridge etc, I.e often not from the airport. This may also explain the limited choice. I must add that in my case, a car is a car.. is a car, having driven hundreds over the years. In any case, I invariably write the same on my acceptance form... ‘Collected exactly as on my on line booking application with no extras or upgrades at all’

I book with whomever of the big companies is least expensive. That would usually be: Budget, Dollar/Thrifty and Alamo. They are owned by the larger and usually more expensive: Avis, Hertz and Enterprise. Any of these will usually provide a comparable experience. Sixt is another very good option.

Do Budget offer anything like Alamo Skip the Counter.
Having booked Alamo through Virgin, Budget through DFCH are now £200 cheaper. Alamo have come down only £40. So Budget is £160 cheaper. But like the OP, we haven't used Budget for over a decade so have no idea what they are like. |

Another question - How does Budget handle tolls?
Is it as simple as Alamo where you dont need to do anything? |
