ULEZ Heathrow 2022 ?

Hey folks.

I'm debating whether to book my car parking at purple parking for next may, purely down to the announcement on Heathrow joining the scheme to charge vehicles which don't comply currently £12-15 a day.

Not sure when they are rolling it out,has any got any info or ideas what they are planing to do ?

We are going for 17 days so would add a large sum onto our parking if I'm reading the detail correctly 🤣

Like to know everyone's thoughts, because it's holding up my booking plans.

Thanks

I have my parking booked at LHR for all my trips next year. Fully refundable should my plans change. Bird in the hand etc etc.

I was reading about this yesterday.

To me I take it as it's only going to apply to people who use the drop-off areas and the short stay car parks. It would be a bit silly to charge drivers almost £15 a day additional to park in long stay but who knows.. Heathrow need to scrape money back somehow.

Surely if your vehicle is parked up in a car park for two weeks it will be unable to emit any emissions, or have I missed something?

I've been following the situation since making my booking at Purple Parking last May for our trip in May 2022 but am still none the wiser.

As it stands there is a small pocket around Heathrow that you can drive in without being affected by the ULEZ.

Our 2012 diesel car doesn't meet the criteria and it is my understanding that you have to pay the fee from the day you enter the zone to the day you leave it, producing emissions or not!

Looking at tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ult...n?intcmp=52227 it appears to me that Heathrow is outside of the ULEZ but inside the LEZ. My understanding that cars are not charged in the LEZ. Also in regards to paying each day , it states for each day driven. So my assumption again is a camera would need to pick up the car and so if its parked there would be no charge anyway.

if you use tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/ you will see it does not show any charges for LEZ if you put your reg in. This could change of course in the future , but I've not seen anything about this so far.
