Magic is Calling - Day 1 - November 2021 - Magic Kingdom & Disney Springs
Index here
Travel day here Day 1 - 14 November 2021 - Magic Kingdom & Disney Springs Oh you have to love jet lag right! I wake convinced it must be at least 5 / 6 in the morning. Nope 2.30! Lovely, I do manage to doze back off again but I am awake at 5.30 so what else to do but start writing up my trip report! Today is our wedding Anniversary, 6 years! So we open our cards this morning, and being in Disney is our gift to each other! I grab some breakfast from the hotel reception area and bring it back to the room which consists of sausage muffin things and Mickey waffles. This is followed up by some cheesecake from last night. After getting ready we head out to Magic Kingdom, a short 15 min drive and $25 lighter for parking, we are parked up at the front of Hook parking lot. It take a few minutes walk to get to bag check and then queuing up for the ferry ride to Magic Kingdom. Tapping into Magic Kingdom feels like heaven and once in the park we both have smiles cheek to cheek! It feels super busy and probably the busiest we have seen the parks, long lines for the photographers, and crowds everywhere. On Main Street the Christmas tree and the decorations are beautiful and then I see the beautiful castle and my eyes start to water a little. We are both so so so happy to be back and celebrating our anniversary at Magic Kingdom. We pop into the emporium and get a couple of badges for our anniversary and then see the dapper Dan’s performing on the trolleys singing their Christmas songs. We join the line for a couple of photopass photographers before heading to future world for our first ride of the day Buzz! It is advertised as a 40 min wait but we are on in 15 and I take the win so 1-0 in the buzz league table. One of my favourite rides is the people mover a 20 min queue turns out to be 5 so really good and we find out what the good folk in tomorrow land are up to. Tron is looking great and can’t wait to ride when they eventually get to finish it. Space mountain is next and a advertised 35 min wait took around 40. There are loads using the lighting lane for this ride and at $9 a piece today I think I’d rather wait in line. Carousel of progress is up next and it’s a great big beautiful tomorrow is in our heads for the rest of the day! It’s coming upto lunch time and so caseys corner is our choice, they are only doing mobile ordering and our food comes out in around 10 mins, but while waiting we do get to see a local schools marching band and cheerleaders. Once our food is ready we take it to the grass area and have a little picnic, which we have never done before and is lovely to sit and watch the world go by! The weather today is super beautiful, nice and warm, no humidity and it’s so nice to be able to be in the sun without sweat dripping down. After lunch we have a look for some of the 50th anniversary statues and pop into some of the shops. Tinker belle is coming along the parade route so we stop to have a wave. Big Thunder mountain is up next with a 40 min wait which took us around 25. I do love this ride! A new one for us today and we head into the Enchanted tiki room which is a walk on, and love the show we can’t believe we missed it on our previous trips. From here we head to the orange blossom for some orange dole whip and sit on the curb in the plaza to eat it and wait for a cavalcade with Clarabelle on to pass. We head into the shops down main street and I tell my wife I am invoking a no regrets policy, so if you like something buy it and we will worry about it later! We have been on trips before and when we get home we wish we had brought something so hopefully this will stop this. My no regrets policy is immediately put into action as when walking through the shop the assistant is putting out some of the 50th anniversary shimmer lounge fly bags. I saw these on Instagram and of course my wife loved it, so we grabbed one and glad we did as we didn’t see them available again for the rest of the holiday so the no regrets policy is winning! We head out of Magic Kingdom and we both say what an amazing day it’s been and a wonderful way to spend our anniversary. Another first for us today is the Monorail, yes can you believe it! So we take it to the parking lot and head back to the car. We get back to the hotel for around 5, have showed and enjoy the rest of the cheesecake from breakfast. Laying on the bed I nearly fall asleep but I resist and an hour later we get ready to head out to Disney Springs. We get to Disney Springs for around 7 and grab a spot in the Lime garage near security so a nice easy walk for us. I didn’t expect it to be this chilly in the evening so next time we need to bring out something warmer. We head to the co op and gaze at all the lovely clothes and home ware and I also enjoy looking at the original merchandise from when the park opened. World of Disney is next, my wife has been eyeing the spirit jerseys and the one she would really like is the Purple 50th Anniversary. They only have extra small ones available so we will keep an eye out. This turns out to be very elusive! The no regrets name policy came out again, and we purchased this cushion. I have no idea how we will get this home, but that's next week's problem! Dinner for tonight is at the boat house, which is lovely as ever and we have the duck duck razz cocktail and coconut shrimp. The waiter also noticed our Anniversary badges so grabs us a couple of complimentary cupcakes which was a lovely touch. We take a walk back to the car but first have a look at some of the lovely Christmas trees on display. Back in the car it’s a short ride back to the Hotel and we are worn out and flop onto bed and asleep by 11. Super amazing day and the best anniversary we have had together so far. Day 2

I’m glad we did it, my credit card not so much! Especially with some of the 50th merch as you see it one day and then not again for the rest of your stay.

The day started perfectly with the Mickey waffles and then a brilliant end with the yummy cocktails. You must have been shattered by the time you got back to your hotel.

Lovely way to spend your anniversary - it sounds like the perfect day. MK still looks as beautiful as ever, and it seems the wait times weren't too bad. Nice way to end the day at Disney Springs.
