Flying into Miami
Hi Guys
We are looking at flying direct to Miami staying one night spending the next morning looking around a little, lunch then off to Orlando. What we would like to do is get a shuttle from the airport to the hotel who at checkout would look after the cases etc until lunchtime then get a shuttle back to the airport to collect the car. Has anyone done this, do you have any further suggestions? Cheers Mark |

We have flown into Miami a fair few times but prefer to pick the car up straight away. Gives us better flexibility to travel around different parts of Miami (which is not small!).
It's a great start to the trip though. |

When we have flown in to Miami, we get the airport shuttle to the Sheraton hotel which is directly opposite the car rental centre. We then stay overnight and in the morning cross the road and collect the car (the road is very busy, you have to be careful). Not sure how you would store the cases, except for in the car, but if you are happy to drive in Miami, this could work for you.

We also stay at the Sheraton but grab the car when we get off the plane then drive across the road to the hotel. You could do this then get an Uber to downtown/beach to have a look round the come back grab the car and go?

I don't hand around in Miami. I'm up and on the road by 6.00 so that I am in Orlando for shops opening. If you want to look at Miami go back a few days before your flight.

We are hoping for mid August 2022 (no choice husband is a teacher) and given that flights probably horrifically expensive i am looking at flying into Miami instead……it’s too soon to get prices and i’m not good at waiting 😂 Anyone able to advise what kind of price difference there usually is between a direct round flight to MCO and same to Miami? Many thanks

We have done this plenty of times all around the USA as we like to get the car the next day as we move around a lot and also DH likes to have a couple of drinks on the plane.
We usually book a hotel with shuttle and go and get the car the next morning. Never had an issue with a hotel storing cases for a short time, but we have encountered hotels that have told us they have very little storage space and it would be first come first served ( one that came to mind is the Hampton Inn , lake Buena vista) I would check the hotels that have a shuttle ..the chains like Hilton , IHG and Marriot are a good bet and drop them an email to see if they have the storage capacity. |
