I book flights or wait

Hi everyone

The flights are out on Saturday for our proposed trip next August, looking like they will be 3k for indirect flights as opposed to 5k for direct. This is for two adults and two kids... do I bite the bullet and book on Saturday or wait hoping for a cheaper direct flight at a later date?

Thanks in advance

Craig

Not sure which airport this is but sounds quite expensive even if it was Manchester. Having said that the main thing is you are happy with the price. Having something booked to enable you get excited about and book other elements may make it worth than for you.

If you like the price, book it. If you don’t, wait and see. No one knows which way the price will go in the current climate.

Hi Craig,

We are looking for June flights but not seeing any prices that we are happy with……I don’t like all the uncertainty! Really hoping prices will drop and more flight options open up.
Good luck 😀

We want to go in August, the prices are looking better for Easter currently so I am holding out hope! If not I may move our reservation to Easter

Just keep checking, I had same issue for our May flights, then one day they dropped by around £600, still more than I originally hoped to pay but much more affordable, next day they were back up again (I have checked a few times since out of curiosity and haven't seen them that cheap again). I think that price I had in mind wasn't realistic for 2022.

Just need to be patient and ready to pounce! It was quite stressful tho!

I don't think manchester will get cheaper. Tui are over £1200, on my dates virgin are no longer offering direct ( assume full) and indirect are over 1000. If you are willing to do indirect from London you may want to wait but for direct or Aerlingus from Manchester I think book- if you can justify the price. Bargains in August from Manchester are extremely unlikely.

For weeks I have been monitoring flight prices daily for an August departure from LHR and a mid-September return from MCO.

Fairly stable for PE and UC prices with maybe a £50 variation up or down for 2 tickets.

Today was the return date I wanted.

Bingo. Over £750 price drop.

My game plan is to create a document, check daily and monitor trends. They are there if you look hard.

OP. Best of luck in your search.

Who are you booking with? There was another thread on here suggesting that BA is currently working out much cheaper if you book as soon as they are released (1am on the day), then it starts creeping up.
