Europecar bought by VAG group

French officials have agreed to allow VAG group to purchase. Europecar.
Could be interesting…

That is an odd move.

I suppose they own companies like VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda etc so will have a wide variety of models to put into the pool of cats.

Years ago I worked for Godfrey Davis car hire. They were bought over by europcar who were owned by Renault at the time.

It’s part of a move into mobility services by VAG (meaning things like subscription models, car sharing etc, not mobility is the disability sense). Rental companies like Europcar have the fleet management and network capability for this.

Car manufacturers owning rental car companies isn’t unknown, Hertz was owned by Ford, and in fact Volkswagen previously owned Europcar, selling it in 2006.
