To a degree you do need money for a family. Can’t really live in the woods or something but so long as our family unit of 4 are all ok and together then everything else outside it I could deal with.

While I agree with what you are saying, your nuclear family is key it is a vunerable position to totally rely on your small family group for your support and mental health.

I cant say I have an enormous number of friends, I have lots of acquaintances, but I do have some very good friends who I dont have to see for six months but can catch up with really quickly and we would do anything for each other.

I also believe that community is important, and feeling part of a community aids my feeling of well being, just being part of something.

So I would say 'no man (or family) is an island'
