I’m confused, when did this become a thing!

So EPL fixtures are released today.

As is their want, Sky Sports are doing their best to hype it up.

But they have cameras and reporters at grounds, mainly the newly promoted teams, where they are interviewing fans who are gathering at said grounds to hear the announcement of the fixtures. When on earth did this become a thing?

I have just read on Sunderland forum there is some sort of fixtures breakfast going on, where someone from the club attends and answers questions.

I see they have no games down for boxing day but for the 27th (which is a saturday), sky sports website article says games can be moved to boxing day for tv.

Same in F1.

Too many lingering shots of crisis actors 'enjoying themselves'.

The FA have already warned that a number of games could be rescheduled at short notice, as we have so many teams in Europe possibly reaching the latter stages

Another thing that treats match going fans poorly, plenty of them want to book travel and now have to wait until close to a game to do this, meaning they have to pay more for travel.

"Football is nothing without fans"...

...until it suits us.

The fa/pl/whatever league don't give a fig about fans. All they care about is sky money.

And that will fall eventually as its so expensive people will leave

They know that teams are involved in Europe and should consider that when deciding which games to show. It's not that hard if they really did have any consideration for match going fans.

I don't get the hype around fixture day. Home or away first and last game. Boxing day.
You play everyone twice.

Rant over

This is the first year I've looked more closely at the whole schedule at the outset, as I'm a season ticket holder for the first time! 💙 Is it usual to have six midweek evening games put in from the very start? I think I've always assumed they are reschedules due to weather/cup runs/tv - not so many decided from the very outset! 😢 Not great when you are a travelling fan.
