I love the market research and cost of pecans talk going on!
2 days for y'all aiming for Thursday...side note - I wish I could say y'all in real life and it not sound odd. Also, anyone got a special but easy mash recipe? I don't want anything else that's complicated, but also I'm trying to jazz up my mash!

I love a good deal Abby! 😆 Also I have total enthusiasm for your use of of the word Y’all. I have this terrible affliction 😳 I can’t help but imitate whatever accent I hear. It is not purposeful but it is embarrassing. By the end of a conversation with a Server or a Shop Assistant I am practically American. Poor Adam wants to disown me. 😂
My mash recipe is boil your potatoes til cooked and add a little bit of milk, loads of butter, salt and pepper and mash like nobody is watching. I know some crazy people add cream but that is a step too far for me. 😉. Getting hungrier by the minute! |

Yep that's my go to mash recipe too, sometimes you can't beat perfection! I've tried adding sour cream, but somehow while it's great for jackets I'm not so keen in mash.
Oh and I call the imitation "having an affinity" it drives Dave mad too. I've tried saying "Hey y'all" at school in a channeling Mrs Coach kind of way but it just doesn't feel right. Probably cos we live in the South of England and not Texas

Just home from work, should really go to sleep as have dentist tomorrow then I'll be starting cooking for the big day but I am so thrilled by the pecan chat I had to pop in to say hello.
So we have confirmed that the fruit and veg section is more economical than the baking section. Very interesting. Tesco had the 250g bag for £3.90 (which I bought). They also had a special 170g pack in Christmas packaging for £2.50 Clubcard price. The best deal would been to have bought two of the special packs but a) I thought that would be too many and didn’t want lots leftover, and b) I was almost convinced that the special Christmas one would be out of stock and I was afraid they wouldn’t send any at all. I use this Pioneer Woman mash recipe: thepioneerwoman/food...shed-potatoes/ So naughty, yet so, so good. I had to buy the Lawry’s Seasoned Salt online but we have made them without it before and I can’t say I noticed any difference. I also usually use milk rather than half-and-half… You can make this mash ahead of time too and heat it up in the oven which is a godsend when you’re trying to time 1000 things. P.S. I also do the accent thing! |

Mash as Abby but I add sour cream rather than milk and butter and I use my hand mixer to mash and beat it together on special occasions
I’m on Mash on Thursday when spending the day with friends and neighbours here at the villa And pixie dust please as they want Yorkshire pudding so I’ve broken out the pop over pans they make great individual Yorkshire puddings |

My lot would love to have Yorkshire puddings, but I can't make anymore! Plus I've told them they're definitely not American, so if you could keep it quiet that you're having Yorkshire puds out there that would be helpful 😉
Good tip to use the whisk to mash, I normally do all by hand. Perhaps I'll add some cream cheese from the Pioneer woman recipe, I'm going to need a kilo of cream cheese and that's not hyperbole! The cheese cake has 4 packs! So may as well buy another one.

mash. my main tip is to just roast your spuds a day or two in advance, and then just scrape out the skins into a sealed tub/ziploc bag and keep them for another time.

I can confirm Pecans have been purchased from ASDA at £2.59 for 200g. Not the best deal but I was desperate!
Started some meal prep today... Pumpkin Soup - it was very, very thick. I had to water it down a lot. Green Bean Casserole Mash Cornbread - very, very crumbly, going to have to Google to see where I went wrong Have a lovely day tomorrow everyone! |
