A big Thank you to those that are working .

I was lucky enough to book the time off last year so I could enjoy this bank holiday as hubby is off. I also need to supervise his decorating . He will always say he gets on better when I’m at work 😂. I know emergency services etc are always on hand too and I always appreciate what they do.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you especially to those working in retail and hospitality. No doubt they will be working flat out this during these jubilee celebrations.
👏👏

Daughter is working at McDonald’s 7am to 4 today. 2 to 10 tomorrow and all day Saturday. I did feel sorry for her this morning. I don’t think she realised it was bank holiday when the shifts came out.

There’s decorating going on here too today though so she’s not missing much.

I was very surprised at the shops being open to be honest.

Me too. I nipped to Tesco this morning and half way there wondered if it would be open.

Would have been nice if supermarket staff had at least a day.

I always think the same for all bank holidays/Xmas/new year ect Those of us lucky to have that time off could not actually go anywhere or do things if others didn’t have to work.

These 2 bank holiday days are pretty much a waste of time unless you work for a company that gives bank holidays off. Virtually all the shops are open normal hours so no extra time off for staff. Dd lost 2 days holiday allowence to cover the bank holiday as the company is closed which she’d had preferred to use for an actual holiday

DS is working today too, and on Saturday, but he’s a lifeguard and leisure centres are open so that’s how it is. He had a little rant about bank holidays last night, not because he’s working, but because he wanted to make an appointment with the Dr and I told him they were closed!

Exactly. And unless your contract is worded in a particular way, you don’t actually get an extra day off anyway!
