Two types of smart tags there is tile as well, but tgat requires a subscription for anything over the basics.
Apple air tags, £73-80 for four, you need an apple device to get the total use out of, and has to be iOS 11 upwards. There is a android app with limited features you can use
Samsung smart tags plus, around £55 for two.only works on Samsung items, no iOS app

Tests done reckon the Samsung are quicker to respond to checks, but both require comparable Samsung or apple goods around them to piggyback signals off.

Choice of smart tag may come down to what phones/tablets you have tbh

Following reading this thread particularly the post where they tracked the missing cases, I have ordered 4 more AirTags. I have 2 in 2 cars, two spare already but I’ve decided all 4 cases will have one in for travel, plus the adults hand luggage. Better safe than sorry with the disruption in baggage handling etc, plus we are on Southwestern internal flights as well this summer.

We bought 4 for our luggage after my case went missing in 2019. Aer Lingus couldn’t tell me where the case was, if I’d had an air tag in the case I would have at least known where the case got left behind!
I used them this year and we were able to track if the cases managed to make it to the same terminal as us at LHR, we even managed to see that they arrived at the plane😊

Same - saddest message on my phone.

I use them on my kids! Plenty of iPhones pinging in Disney Parks / Twickenham / West Ham FC, in case they get lost in a crowded place. They’re just a bit young for their own phone yet so these work well. I also use them in my luggage and have one in the car.

Apologies, I have another question. I’m presuming they have some kind of battery? How are they charged? And how long does it last?

Buy from Apple, Amazon, think Costco had them at one stage. Battery - User-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery

They have a standard cr2032 battery in them and the battery lasts about a year.

I used Apple Airtags last week, was able to see luggage bags travel from bag drop to Aircraft. Was nice to sit on the Aircraft and the tags tell me they were with me.
On our return whilst in the long queue at Passport control I could see my luggage was already in the baggage carrousel room.
I could also see my Car was where I left it for the duration of the holiday.

Box of 4 Airtags from Apple is £99, Amazon have them for £80 at the moment. amazon/Apple-AirTa...ps%2C64&sr=8-1
