First day is a Saturday, what would you do?
We arrive on Friday 26th August so our first full day is going to be Saturday 27th. With 2 excitable kids they'll want to jump straight into Disney but is that the best idea as I assume the parks are going to be even busier on a Saturday? When Ive been previously without kids Ive tried to avoid park days on a weekend where possible and do other things.
We're planning on doing Disney, Universal (Possibly a night or 2 in a Universal resort) and Sea World but should I just bite the bullet and head straight to MK? Still deciding on whether to rub the lamp and go for Genie+ or not but assume Id have to get up to speed quickly with it to make the most out of it on a busy Saturday! Any thoughts appreciated thanks

We are arriving on a Friday also, me DH and DD 9. As much as we want to jump straight into Disney we have booked our first park day for the Sunday. The Saturday will give us the chance to chill after a long journey, get some shopping, take a trip to Disney Springs to pick up magic bands etc!
Also, I'm not convinced if weekdays are any quieter than weekends now? Maybe someone who has been recently can confirm, but all the weekend dates for March April were the last to fill up which I found quite surprising. Edited at 02:29 PM. |

We did animal kingdom on our first trip which was just Disney, we also arrived on a Friday and had heard differing opinions of magic Kingdom on the first day... Animal kingdom worked perfect for us

Thanks for the replies! Hopefully things will settle down a little by August and I'll be able to get a gauge on how busy the days are but then Ive just remembered you need to book your park days now so I probably cant leave it too long to go!
Animal Kingdom is a good shout for a first day, breakfast at Rain Forrest Cafe could be an option!

We did lunch at rainforest cafe on our first day... the nicest server I have ever met worked there she was wonderful , my daughter has autism and had a meltdown when it started thundering she took us to the shop and told us the time it would start again so we could make a quick exit and fetched me a hot dinner back out and told me I was a great mum... I could've kissed her

Go for it! Like you say, I think the parks are always busy now. We land on Saturday and I’ll be fighting the crowds into MK for the evening! I just couldn’t bear missing any park time

You'll probably wake up at stupid o'clock anyway so why not rope drop somewhere and then give yourself a well earned early finish / rest?

Our 1st full day is Saturday 27th too. I’ve booked MK, can’t wait! The only thing I try to avoid on weekends is water parks.
