Symphony of the Seas - booked

Thank you for the advice from everyone on what will only be our 2nd cruise. Only ever been with DCL to the Bahamas... Now going RCI on West Med for 7 nights with 2 young kids.

Reason we went for this... splash pad for both boys (6 and 1). Itinerary fit better for med cruise (will save Disney/fjords for a time when they both will walk more).

A lot to explore on the ship. Some good port calls which none of us have done before (except Barcelona).

Wide selection of foods--- Serrentos Pizza, hot dog place, windjammer buffet, Mexican... plus the standard and specialty dining.

Plus for same price as DCL we have a 1 bed Grand suite, concierge, access to the Coastal Kitchen (probably suit us better than main dining room) and other benefits! Oh and this price also includes our prepaid gratuities!

We will likely do DCL in 2024 as part of my 40th trip to Orlando!

Anyone been on Symphony of the Seas? We are on deck 8 so Central Park area...

No, we were booked on it for a western caribbean cruise in 2020 literally a couple of weeks after we locked down. We have rebooked for next September round the Mex and can’t wait!

Ship looks great.

Trying to get my head around things to do with kids at the port calls.

If anyone has visited any of the ports... Palma De Mallorca, Provence (Marseille) call, Florence/Pisa, Rome, Naples and has any tips, then that would be great!

Expect we will stay on the ship during Provence, and have a day exploring as well as the day at sea at the end!

We have been to Pisa from Livorno. We caught the train ourselves and it was a really easy half day out. My brother in law has also been to Florence on the train. Naples we have been to Herculaneum and Pisa and we Havel also been over to Capri. I can highly recommend Capri, we went over on the ferry which wasn’t particularly cheap but the views there are spectacular. We went up on the chair lifts too which was great fun.

Yes, we were on Symphony of the Seas from Miami for Halloween party on Oct 2019 and for our silver wedding too.

This cruise is massive and you can get lost lol. We meet friend at sport bar but we got lost for one half hours lol

My husband love this ship but I am not sure and I think it is too big look like size 3 x from Magic Disney Cruise lol.

Now my husband want to book Wonder of the Seas as it is bigger than Symphony of the Seas

Anyway I am sure you all will enjoy this cruise and don't miss out show at back of the ship at evening was good We had deck 14 for our balcony and it blocked sun

Thank you... that's great information!

Thinking:

Day 1. Barcelona - /albeit embarkation day we will have been there since 1000hrs the day before so will explore.
Day 2. Palma De Mallorca - DS Birthday - hopefully beach?
Day 3. Provence - Maybe stay on board this day and explore the ship!
Day 4. Florence/Pisa - My Birthday - excursion taking both places in
Day 5. Rome - Definitely excursion with hopefully Vatican and colleseum
Day 6. Naples - Serrento / Capri?
Day 7. At sea

How long before the sailing do the excursions typically come out?

Thanks

The Oasis class ships are something to behold. We cruised on the Allure of the Seas and we were blown away by the ship, it's neighbourhood concept and all of the entertainment on board. You'll have a blast!

We have caught the train to rome from civitaveccia loads of times too. It’s a 20 min walk or a very short taxi ride, the cruise line may even offer transfers? We have even walked to the station post cruise with our cases before 🤣
