We always use Three pay as you go SIM cards.

You can get the SIM card for free from the Three website, then load it with funds to buy a data bundle.

Most sensible one right now is £10 which gives you 16gb data (max is 12gb roaming anyway) and unlimited calls and texts to UK numbers.

It’s a bit of a pain having to swap out your normal sim, but it works and is relatively low cost.

You just need to activate it before you go - load it up and make a call or text before you go. It will then expire after 30 days, so time it appropriately

I think They charge you £5 a day to use your data when you roam out of Europe even on pay as you go

That’s for new contracts. If you’re on PAYG or an older contract then you don’t pay a daily charge.

Certain contracts already have the roaming included - my o2 contract lets me use my data in America, so worth checking that!

Based on advice on here I contacted O2 and if you are on the 250 or above data plan it’s you can use it in the USA without any extra charges. I got this in writing. If you’re on an O2 Refresh plan which I am you can up your data for the month you need it and then drop it back again. That’s what I plan to do as so many vlogs are saying it’s best to use your mobile data rather than rely on park wifi!

I'm on Giff Gaff monthly bundle (through o2) with a Samsung Galaxy Z-flip - don't use the phone much but it would be handy not to have to rely on villa/park/restaurant wifi. Are there any ideas out there that would work - any ideas much appreciated thanks.

Get a data only esim with Airalo or truphone. Cheapest starts at $4.50 and you can get free credit if referred to Airalo

All very easy to do and you can manage with the app from your phone
