Glasses

Last minute jitters are starting...

I've been to Alton Towers a few times and I have always been asked to take my glasses off on rollercoasters which is annoying because without my glasses it's really blurry so I actually can't see anything and it ends up giving me really bad motion sickness.

Do Disney and Universal ask you to take glasses off on rollercoasters?

I'm going to get my normal prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses tightnened but just wanted to check how it is?

I don't think i ever had to take my glasses off for anything Disney or Universal. I always wore my glasses not sunglasses on rides and i only felt them loosen on the now closed dualling dragons

Croakies

Check out Croakies eyewear retainer. Very secure and very comfortable and then you don't need to worry about getting your glasses tightened

I found there were some rides in IOA and SW that asked you to remove your glasses last time we were there. On the other rides I just wore croakies or something similar to hold them in place safely .

I haven't been asked to take off glasses in Disney, but do remember one slightly harrowing ride at HKDL on Space Mountain where I was genuinely worried that my (rather loose fitting at that time) glasses might fly off my face during the ride! Also, many many years ago, I was on the Jurassic Park ride at IoA when the ride suddenly had a bump and I knocked against I think the seat in front of me, which bent my metal glasses frame about maybe 20 degrees - thankfully we managed to bend it back but I was terrified it would break as I was blind without glasses and that was the only pair I had with me.

Would contact lenses be a possibility at all? After the above two events I started wearing daily disposable lenses whenever I went to a theme park. And carrying a spare pair of glasses with me all the time...

Have you ever thought if investing in prescription goggles. A lad in my son's rugby team wears them as he suffers with out his glasses

Thanks all for your ideas! I'll check them all out

Sky13, I've tried contact lenses in the past in general and they didn't work well for me. I'm planning on trying them again but not until after Florida so I have time to try and get used to them again!

I couldn't do up a harness or enter or exit a ride safely without mine as my vision is awful. I have never been asked to take them off but for my own peace of mind I use a retainer strap.

We once had to wait whilst they turned all the lights on in SM as someone had dropped their prescription glasses, the CM said they will stop the ride for that but not for sunglasses. I know I would have been mortified for stopping everyones fun if it was me and I couldn't have functioned if they had dropped and broke!

I don’t wear a retainer and my glasses have never come off 🤞🏻 Even on dualling dragons

I’ve bought some prescription goggles for this year for the water parks 👍🏻
