Cost of living - any tips?

With increasing prices in the shops and utilities prices soaring, I wondered if Dibbers had any tips or hacks to share for us all to try to save some money?

We were lucky and capped our fuel prices last year, right before the costs soared. Where possible, I buy own brand groceries. We shop around for insurance and, of course, the rules have changed on deals for new customers only.

Everyone is feeling the squeeze - has anyone any good ideas?

Menu planning and batch cooking from scratch and I use a 3 their steamer pot all the time so I’m only using one burner on the hob ie potatoes and 2 veg is what’s normally in it but tonight it was Haggis Turnip and potatoes just put the turnip and potatoes on a good bit after the haggis I only buy offers if I’ll use them or we split them with family
I just wish here had coupons like the us I use coupons all the time
Look round for offerson insurance it’s often a better deal to insure all the cars with a multi car policy etc

Go through your bank account and check every standing order/ direct debit to see if you actually need/ use them.
Do you use your gym membership ? watch your movie channels ? All those monthly subscriptions we get tempted with but are not actually necessary?

I would also agree with above with batch cooking and menu planning. Stop the takeaways or at least limit them to an occasional treat rather than a weekly expectation. Likewise Costa/Starbucks etc.

Use Quidco for cash back on shopping. If you are eligible for a blue light card this have saved me a fortune over the years. We also have 2 car boot sales a year. Make about £200 or so a time and it keeps the house tidy too.
