The flying boy has passed his penultimate exam this week, the last of the written hurdles.

The final Assessment , known as a skills test, is booked now for end of Feb. He’s just 17.
I might manage dry January but February will definitely need alcohol! 🤦🏻

Best of luck to your son, that's fab! I remember how excited and nervous I was when my DH did his ..and his commercial! I did do some of the PPL with work but didn't finish it!

Ah that’s fab. What route did your DH choose for his commercial training? We have visited a few places but he’s also just been offered a six month role as operation manager at the local flying school, from June to December (once he’s sat his last a-level), so he’s tempted by that too. Another friend has also encouraged him to look at training with jet 2 as a dispatcher .

OPs manager at the local flying school would be relly good experience for him, I work in aviation too and a lot of people start that way. He could go and be a dispatcher for one of he airlines but I feel the flying schools are more personal. My husband did his training modular, he did the ATPL after the CPL. Then he went to Aeros in Gloucester for the CPL IR

Oh - I've just seen/caught up with this thread. How amazing are you both - him for his achievements and focus and you for supporting him even with how much it worries you! My friends son was a good bit older - he did Uni first - but then decided to go to plot school in NZ (apparently it was cheaper) - his mum was not happy that he was doing his commercial on the other side of the world! He was working for Qatar Airlines until covid hit.
