I need a new phone but I'm being told to wait until we go to the states in 3weeks as they're cheaper, does anyone know if this is true?

Depends on what phone you are looking,
Have a look at Best Buy, that should give you a rough idea of prices, don�t forget to add the sales tax on the prices though

Make sure that the phone is unlocked and also supports GSM. Some US models only support CDMA so will not work over here.

iPhones are usually the same prince in $ as they are in �. If bought from Apple they are unlocked and will work with any sim card.
