It all looks amazing 😻

I got obsessed with poke when we were in Hawaii and had it every day 😐 yours looks lovely

I’m not sure Joe’s has made it to my short list after your review - there is so little meat in crab claws 😂

Loving your report!

Thanks everyone, I’m so pleased my report can be helpful for your future travels 😃

Today we started off with an Uber to Little Havana, although not before the morning balcony pic of course. Perfect blue skies today.

Our Uber was $25 and we got dropped off at El Rey de las Fritas which is a diner popular with locals and famous for Cuban Fritas which are essentially little burgers made from infused beef herb patties with little potato sticks and onions. You can then add toppings like cheese and eggs.

We had water to drink and then I ordered a Frita with Swiss cheese and W had one with cheddar cheese.

These were good and it was nice to eat something a bit off the beaten track and less touristy.

We then had a walk around Little Havana for a while, took some photos and found the coolest McDonald’s sign ever!

I’m glad we went to Little Havana but we wouldn’t go back. It was quite confusing which bits were safe for tourists… by chance, we actually left earlier than planned (and without a couple of our snack stops!) as we got on the wrong trolley bus, but when we realised our mistake we didn’t feel the need to go back.

Anyway, our mistake led us to Brickell and then Downtown Miami which were beautiful and featured some of the largest buildings we’ve ever seen!

We had planned to come here anyway but more so on the evening, however our planned restaurant was also open for lunch so we headed to Bayside Marketplace where La Industria Bakery is located. They have both a quick service takeaway place and an actual restaurant. The restaurant had a queue but we wanted to try it so we waited for a table, luckily it wasn’t too long for a table for 2 however some of the larger parties were waiting ages (they don’t take reservations at the moment). They are famous for pancakes and so I already knew what I was getting to eat!

To drink, we got a strawberry smoothie to share. This was really tasty:

I then went ahead and ordered the Oreo Pancakes and W ordered the Tripleta Cheese Explosion sandwich (with fries) which is a Puerto Rican specialty filled with lots of meat. This version was also literally wrapped in cheese - we didn’t realise this part when he ordered it

Isn’t that the most ridiculously big pancake stack you’ve ever seen 😂 everything was so extra and crazy in this place!

The pancakes were actually really tasty as well as looking great, although of course we barely made a dent in them! Most people seem to box them up to take home but we didn’t bother with being so far away from the hotel and still having a lot more of the day to go, I think it would’ve been a pain to carry them around.

W also loved his tripleta. I tried it and thought it was good too, but my favourite part of his were the fries. We didn’t really intend to eat them as we had enough to try and power through with the pancakes, but they were irresistible!

This meal was overall really good. A bit of a spectacle but also really tasty! Thumbs up from us.

The bill was as follows which I actually think was pretty reasonable for what we had.

We then continued our walk around the area, saw some famous stars (another Britto reference!) and came to the Miami Heat arena. We went in the shop here and bought a few things and then went in search of a metromover station which is another free transport service in Miami.

Eventually we found a station and hopped on to the final point of the metromover as from there we knew it was around a 25 minute walk to the Wynwood Walls. A point to note is that the main Walls are now a paid for attraction, $10 each. You have to book a slot and pay online (card only) which you can do beforehand but there’s really no need and we just paid when we arrived on our phone.

Before entering, we stopped for a drink at a bar directly opposite the Walls called the Miami Mojito Company. I should have known from the name, but the drink options were very limited here! The only cocktails were mojitos and margaritas but in pretty much every flavour you can think of! I ended up with a strawberry margarita and W had a standard margarita.

These were soooo strong! They actually asked us if we wanted another shot when we ordered and I’m glad we declined! Only $14 total though as it was happy hour, so a good deal.

We then went into the Wynwood Walls which were great to look around although maybe a bit of a smaller area than we expected when paying an entry fee.

We did have a few other food stops planned in Wynwood but the pancakes had defeated us and we had no room left at this point! We therefore got an Uber back to the hotel and had an evening dip in the pool. We also tried out the hot tub which was amazing after a long day walking.

This evening we just decided to get a trolley down to Lincoln Road and see what we fancied. We had a couple of places in mind and one of them was the Lobster Shack. This is where we ended up with a nice little table outside on Lincoln Road. You get given a menu and then go up to order in the restaurant itself.

To drink, I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and W had their famous rum punch. Both of these were really good and mine was frozen, the best kind of daiquiri!

I then just ordered a couple of lobster tacos for a light dinner, and W ordered a naked lobster roll which was warm with butter, plus the chowder fries which were fries loaded with clam chowder, Parmesan and bacon.

This was all lovely! We both love lobster and W’s lobster roll was a good one. I’ve not had lobster tacos before but they were also good and the sauces elevated them. Personally I wasn’t too keen on the chowder fries as they were quite fishy but W enjoyed them and I just had the ones without chowder on!

This came to a total of just over $85, more expensive than some meals but for lobster, a reasonable deal.

A very tiring but great day. Tomorrow we plan to get up early and try to use the bicycles included in our resort fee. They were all taken at 8.30am on Monday morning so we’re going for a 7am start tomorrow! We also have the Duck Tour booked.

The food in Miami looks amazing- how have you found the weather? and has it been easy enough to get seated at bars/ restaurants with it being Thanksgiving week? We are supposed to be doing Orlando and West Coast next November but we are looking at Miami as a plan B instead of West Coast

The weather has been pretty much perfect for us, a wide range of temperatures between 22 to 32 degrees and really sunny! Before we got here though they’d had a crazy storm for 5 days which we were lucky to miss although it sounds like this was
uncommon so hopefully just a one off.

We booked some restaurants that we knew would be busy eg Joe’s Stone Crab however on other nights we’ve been able to just walk in. I think my advice would be if it’s available to book then make a reservation but there’s plenty of restaurants where they don’t even take reservations. The only place we’ve had to queue without a reservation is La Industria yesterday.

Let me know if you have any other questions

Sunrise from the balcony this morning:

We were up early to use the hotel bikes to ride down to South Point Pier. The views from here were brilliant!

Off on the Duck Tour today and hopefully going to grab lunch at a new place called Benh Mi.
