One of my fav books by Ben Macintyre so was massively looking forward to this adaption ... was secretly hoping for a HBO take like they did with the quite brilliant Band of Brothers and the Pacific but when I heard that Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) was on board my heart sunk a bit... yes it's entertaining... and very watchable... but so much more in the book that could have been used rather than some of the woke fabrications (Ava the made up spy) that was included... got the majority of the period stuff spot on... but still missed a few tricks... so for me a entertaining 7/10 for me but it could and should have been so much better... apparently another 2 or 3 series on the cards

We switched off after 30 minutes. It didn’t “grab” either of us.

Shown on the same night is the Ben McIntyre's brilliant three part series of the TRUE story... much more credible than some of the made up nonsense (girl spies etc) that has been portrayed in the series and most of all is a real lasting legacy to the true heroes
