Urgent help required
Hi. Just looking for some advice please. So I started feeling a bit breathless 2 days ago , sore throat yesterday with headache then from last night body aches and just yuck in general. Lateral flow the last few days negative but positive today:-(. Due to fly to Florida a week tommorow with rapid antigen test booked for a week today. Travelling with husband, 20 year old, 15 year old, 4 year and 8 month old baby. Help are we going to her away still? Will I be testing negative by next Friday? Flights are booked with BA through netflights. Can rest off family go as planned and baby and I join them couple off days later if I’m still positive? Help! I could cry I’ve managed to avoid Covid all this time and waited 3 years for this holiday. This is the only 3 week block we all have off work this year so can’t move month etc. Xx

The problem is that even if you test negative by next Friday, your family might catch it in the interim. Some families are lucky and it doesn’t spread through the entire house. But in my experience, we all got it.
I don’t know of anyone who has tested negative within a week but clearly people must do as they’ve changed the guidance. Maybe with the new variant it leaves the body sooner? It’s all what ifs and maybes. I think realistically, you might have to postpone - which I know is not what you were wanting to hear. Hopefully, other dibbers’ experiences will be different from mine and they can offer you some reassurance. Best of luck. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. 🤞🏻 Edited at 03:56 PM. |

My daughters positive line was very strong when she tested positive last Thursday. She re-did the test on Wednesday with a faint line, and yesterday it was clear. Fingers crossed you will be ok its just whether anyone else in your family get it before you fly.

Yes as you say all depends if no-one else gets it next. I’m wearing a mask and isolating away as much as I can but my husband works away and with a toddler and baby it’s almost impossible. My hope is it has come from one off them first as it’s rife in their nursery at the moment so hoping I have caught it from the little ones?
Does anyone know if netflights /BA would allow me to move just mine and babies flight and let others travel as planned? X

Sorry to hear that you have Covid and hope you aren't too poorly with it. I would give Netflights a ring and ask them what the situation is and ask if what you would like to do is possible. As you booked through them they are theones responsible for sorting it out for you. Hope it works out for you and fingers crossed.

So sorry to hear this …I’m not sure it’s a good idea to split your family up…what if you stay behind and end up unwell - what happens to the two small kids? Maybe you have good family support locally though? What if one of the family tests positive when they get to US…you tested negative for a few days first so it is possible, your husband would be on his own with the other kids, if it took time to spread between them would their return be impacted? I’m sorry to raise the what ifs but given the timeline they are higher possibility for you. Try not to panic but I think you and husband need to have a difficult conversation about what the right options for you. I’m sure everyone wants to get away but personally I could think of nothing worse than having to isolate abroad.

So sorry to hear you have tested positive. I have no advice about getting away on your holiday but wanted to share my recent experience of Covid. I tested positive on New Year's Day and started taking LFT on day 6 but was testing positive right through to day 10. DS took it a couple of days after me and he was testing positive until day 9. I hope you get it sorted out - I'm sure you are absolutely gutted!

This must be a nightmare for you and one of the things that is stopping me from fully planning for our holiday later this year.
I had a positive lateral flow on the 2nd January and by the 7th day I was testing negative, wife on the other hand tested positive for longer. My eldest son also had a positive lateral flow but only myself and my wife came back positive from the PCR tests. Hopefully the rest of the family stay negative and you can go and enjoy your holiday. I cannot imagine the amount of stress you are going through at the moment. |
