I have arthritic knees now and really appreciated being at the HNY as it was really near.

Lots of places to sit in the parks. I often go to Videopolis, get a drink from the vending machines and sit in a bench (I have been known to lie down for a nap).

I believe you can hire a scooter from an outside company - I might look into this for my next visit.

Thank you all so much, as always awesome DIBBers have come through with a wealth of information and lots of options. This forum is just the best.

It hasn’t even occurred to me to think about ubers, they aren’t a part of life in our area so they never even crossed my mind! That could definitely help us out.

Current thinking amongst the group is Sequoia Lodge as being closer than Cheyenne but slightly better value for money than Marvel. We’ve been looking at places to eat and figure 3 out of 4 nights we’ll be headed to the village, so by the time we walked back to the busses it wouldn’t be much different than walking around the lake.

The Disneyland hotel would be an absolute dream, perhaps it’s a good thing that it’s currently closed so as not to tempt me!

It’s a shame the bus system doesn’t seem to work so well, possibly a marketing ploy to encourage people to pay for the more expensive hotels. At least with 4 full days we have plenty of time, I can chill at the hotel and let my two overgrown kids go play unsupervised if needs be! 😂😂

To be honest the furthest hotel is only a 15 minute stroll and we have stopped off in the Village and sat down by the lake on the way sometimes. The buses are OK, it’s just that people push and shove to get on and they are packed full.

I would say onsite at SL or HNY is probably as much walking as offsite and Uber to be honest.

We stayed at Santa Fe and at the time our daughter was pregnant and suffering from pelvic girdle pain. The bus stop for SF was the furthest away from the entrance and the walk took her a long time. (On our last day we drove to the car park after checking out and she was much closer to the gates - so we wished we had done that earlier). She stayed in the new Marvel hotel just before Christmas and she said that it was so easy to get to the park with a buggy. I would say that we have met the worst of human nature on those Disney buses and if we can avoid, we will.

In terms of actual steps walked some of the offsite hotels are better than onsite. If you pick a hotel right next to the RER you just have a few steps to the station and then at the other end you take the exit that comes out by Five Guys and you're right by the security gates next to World of Disney.

Just to note - the Ibis, Ibis Budget and Residhome are nearest the back end of the station, which doesn’t have a lift. There is a down escalator but not an up one. So the better option would be the Elysee opposite the front of the station. I have stayed there (and it’s been considerably done up since then). Nice place and I have been walking into my room 15 minutes after leaving the park.

Personally I would still choose SL or HNY if budget allows though. The beds at HNY were so luxurious!

Wow, your daughter was hardy managing to do that. I had SPD when I was pregnant so appreciate how painful pelvic girdle pain is and how hard walking would have been for her. Hope she’s doing much better now, happy to hear she’s introducing the wee one to Disney at an early age!

Must admit, on our last DLP visit we kinda felt we’d met the worst of human nature in the parks, people just seemed so rude and selfish, that’s definitely a good reason to avoid the buses!

I am still considering hiring an ECV next time though, we didn’t get nearly as much done in November as we usually do, even staying at HNY.

Would love to hear from anyone who has done this.

Ooh, how interesting, I didn’t realise you could hire ECVs at DLP, though I confess I’m reluctant to go that route, as i don’t want to admit that I’m at that stage.

Saying that, we’re determined to get back to WDW in the next couple of years (DD is anxiously awaiting them opening up the cultural exchange rep programme, what kind of parents would we be to not go and visit her at least a couple of times of she got in?! &#128521 and I’d have no hesitation to get one out there. I’m thinking I can just push myself for 5 days in DLP then recover at home, where 2 or 3 weeks in Florida is a marathon of pain!

I don’t think you can hire them through DLP but there must be firms local to them who do it.
