cost of yosemite valley lodge in August

Hi,

planning for next Aug so trying to get a budget together. however, i'm struggling to find out what the cost will be of a room for 2 adults and 2 children in peak august dates as they are sold out. I plan to book 12 months before exactly but if anyone has stayed and knows the approx per night cost and can share then i'd really appreciate it.

I think its really the only hotel close to the entrance (other than the ahwahnee which i assume will be out of budget...)

We stayed in August about 3 years ago, booked as soon as I’d got my flights(Sept) and I think I paid about £250 per night, really steep for such basic accommodation, but definitely a great move. There were 4 of us, kids were around 16 and 14, plenty of room.

The price in May 2020 is $278 per night, plus taxes.

Which, in the one hand, is completely extortionate, but on the other hand, is worth every single cent!

We booked curry village in the end for this September in a stoneman room but we did look at valley lodge and I think it was $288 per night for a 2 double bed room.

Thanks all... i had been told it was going to be really expensive so I am actually relieved that it’s not as much as I had built it up to be!
We aren’t campers and can’t see the curry village etc options being good for us but am happy to pay more to be in a room with its own bathroom close to the action ...

We have booked a room in stoneman house at curry village which is a brick built building with a few en-suite rooms. We liked the look of curry village on YouTube, it looked more scenic than valley lodge so this is the best of both worlds!

Hi all for any of you who are going and know a little about el Capitan watch the films free solo and the dawn wall, when you stand at the bottom of el Capitan it will be a whole different experience.

We are a family of climbers ourselves (indoor with ropes... nothing like free solo and the dawn wall in comparison) so CANNOT wait to see el cap etc.

the one thing we cant seem to find is climbing that we can do ourselves when there suitable for 2 adults an 2 children (age 11 and 8) that doesnt seem to cost a fortune. we are experienced indoor climbers but have never tried outdoors. maybe its worth another thread on here to ask about it actually..

The price varies wildly, we are staying there over easter this year and one night was £360, the next night was £571
