Disney ADR's with a baby

I thought I would share this in case others were thinking the same.

This is our first trip with our two grandchildren. One if which is only 6 months old.

When doing our ADR's I put table for 5. The five being four adults and one three year old. As in the five of our party that would be eating and have park tickets.

Apparently this is wrong. They actually count a 6 month old as a person, even though they are not eating!

Yes all people in the party count including babies. Otherwise if you had an adult that wasn't wanting to eat you could use the same argument. They still take up space in the restaurant which is why they count. I also think there is a health a safety aspect as all restaurants have a maximum number of people allowed in them for fire regulations and if you exclude babies then this would be a breech.

Its good to bring this up again though as I think a lot of people don't take this into account.

Yes, fire regulations and they also need to make sure you're seated at a table large enough, especially if putting the baby in a high chair while you eat.

It’s to make sure there is a space at the table for the high Chair.

Baby sits in a lap but now understand the reason why. I guess it gets them a guaranteed 18% tip too.

It has nothing to do with the tip. When we went as 4 adults one child and a 6 week old baby we booked tables for 6. As only 5 were eating the gratuity was not automatically added.

We have had it added. The server at Garden Grille actually explained that would happen yesterday.

Oh, I wonder if it's down to the server or if they are now more strict on the rule. We did 2 weeks DDP in 2018 so had a lot of ADRs. The only one that added it on was Yachtsman Steakhouse and I didn't mind as the service was excellent.
