Oooh yeah! But we always thought it was a swizz as the deep dome in the base meant a lot less mousse than the sight when you'd ripped off the cardboard cover on top, had promised!

Just remembered another we used to have.
Sticks of rhubarb to be dipped in a little bowl of sugar.

Tinned fruit and Carnation.

Usually peach slices but sometimes pear quarters which I wasn’t keen on (but still ate them).

My favourite was tinned fruit with a few bits of cherry.

Joan and I obviously only allowed one vote but we both agreed on tinned fruit and Carnation. Sometimes peaches, sometimes mandarins and sometimes fruit cocktail.

I'm reminded of visiting aging aunts and uncles from Yorkshire farming stock at around 4pm on a Sunday to be greeted with "You'll have had your tea?"

I was born in a boarding house (B&B) and my dad used to go to the cash and carry and get catering size tins of fruit cocktail- to get a cherry in your dish was like getting a prize ( he also used to get me Z Cars toffee - but that’s another story)

Anybody remember the Heinz tinned sponge pudding you boiled up in a pot between 5 of us with custard in the winter or fruit and carnation
Milk in the summer usually fresh fruit from the garden or summer pudding if there was a glut
Still love summer pudding

A bit of an unrelated digression - unusual for me I know?

I assume you know that Z Cars was broadcast live and hardly any recordings were made. They sat in real cars (Ford Zodiacs I think) with their windscreens removed to avoid glare when filming

Oh yeah! Sticky toffee pudding variety where there was toffee sauce at the bottom of the tin you had to scrape out as it stayed there , and the Spotted Dick version!
