Virgin seat upgrade bidding

I have just placed the minimal bid for an upgrade with my virgin flights.

Just wondering if anyone has had any success with this in the past. We are in premium Economy and have bid for upper (business) class.

I don't have high hopes given that I have only bid the minimal amount for all 4 of us but the thought of even trying has put a smile on my face

I always found even the minimal bid was too high on this. More expensive than booking it originally.

My concern would be that if the bid was successful you'll be spread all over the business class cabin and the only seats that would be available would be those that nobody else wanted

My dad did this once and it worked! He did the most minimal amount you could and got bumped!

How Your Bid works
Retrieve your booking
Simply tell us how much you’re willing to pay for an upgrade, by making a bid. Bids can be made up to two days before your flight is due to depart.
If your bid is accepted, congratulations, you've just bagged yourself an upgrade. We’ll send you an email to let you know.
You can make changes to your bid, or cancel it if you change your mind, until two days before your flight is due to depart, as long as it hasn’t already been accepted.

I did the same, but when I went onto my booking there was no option to do this. Not sure if it's if you've booked directly with Virgin Atlantic and not through Virgin Holidays.

You can only bid if you have booked directly through Virgin Atlantic NOT Virgin Holidays!

So if anyone has booked through Virgin Holidays you won’t be eligible to bid for an upgrade

When do they let you know if you've been successful?
