Does something specific pop up on MDE app at 10days? If I select merchandise at the moment, and I’m obviously a long way from visiting, it just sends me to the Disney Store, is it a different process at 10 days out?

Are you staying onsite? The link to pre-order bands should be in your hotel booking info section. You'll need to be on VPN to the US for it to work though.

Please may I clarify - what’s the reason to preorder rather than pick one up in the shop on arrival? Is it just the extra choices available?

The main reason would be if one you like is available on pre-order, it's cheaper than purchasing there. Especially for the limited edition ones, you get a decent discount on them.

There are a couple of pre-order exclusives as well. I can't remember if the one I ended up ordering (black glitter) was exclusive but I definitely didn't see it in any of the shops.

I ordered just for the convenience as already set up ready to go, also had our names on the back.

We bought bands on our arrival night at the pin shop in Disney Springs. They didn’t have a great selection, probably about 15 - 20.

The plain coloured ones were $19 + tax and those with a design were $29 with a couple of special ones being $39.

They are still handy to have for the parks and for entering resort car parks / theme park toll booths as faffing with a card or phone would get annoying but for more than $100 I’m glad we’re going to be using them again in August.

Yes they will. The only thing that may not work are the on-ride photos auto-adding to MDE on rides like 7DMT if the battery inside has died. But it will work for all tapping functions.
