Ideas for August?

Any recommendations of where we can go in August 2022? We have 2 weeks off, so don’t mind long haul but, although we like warm weather, don’t like it too hot or humid. Hopefully going to Florida in April, so not looking at going there again. Looked at an AI in Mexico but think it will be too hot and humid at that time of year? It’s just the two of us, no kids.

Yes, that’s what we thought. Anything above 28 degrees I would think. We managed California in summer before as the heat was drier and not so humid. We will probably end up back there but wanted something a bit cheaper and maybe more relaxing!

California will be nice, cooler up north so SF and Yosemite NP and that area would be nice. Carry on up to Lake Tahoe or down to Mono lake, Mammoth lakes, that area. We enjoyed June and Convict lakes as well, lovely area. 😊

Yes, we went to Lake Tahoe and Mammoth in August 2019 - loved them both! I’ve been to Yosemite but DH hasn’t so that’s an idea. Been to SF a few times but didn’t like it so much the last time we were there :-(

California is just so expensive next year - was just wondering if we could find something else instead that’s cheaper.

Rome and then Sorrento on a multi centre. The train between Rome and Naples only takes 1 hr 12 mins, is non stop and very nice indeed. The onward from Naples to Sorrento is rickety and takes 45 minutes.

The weather is warm and dry, the food excellent and the wine even better.

Quite simply the very best vacation that we have ever had.

Rome and all its sights/sites
Sorrento
Pompeii
Vesuvius
Herculaneum
Capri
Beautiful Positano (think Audrey Hepburn Galaxy chocolate advert).
A day out in a self drive boat

You won’t even need a hire car from start to finish!

We also love Sorrento and the Amalfi coast! Just stunning.

We also had a great time in Croatia (we have been twice now). We started in Split and then took a ferry to Hvar and spent 10 days enjoying the island. We also took taxi boats to a couple of other islands for day trips. The coastline is truly beautiful and it is quite inexpensive.
