Rachy I really feel for you.

I want you to know IMO you done the right thing to all stick together, How awful it would of been for you to be all alone in this situation.

Money is money at the end of the day, Having Family around you in moments of need is priceless.
Some people now days put to much emphasis on money and forget the real meaning of life is being there for each other, Help each other through the hard time, Then enjoy the good times TOGETHER..

I am sorry that such an excitement this morning turned into a headache.
I am glad you will all be back on your jollies tomorrow and I hope you have a good flight with TC.
Easier sad than done, But for now try and enjoy your day in the hotel, Relax have a good nights sleep all bright and bushy tailed for the morning.
Sending you some pixie dust :P1x1e_Dust : in the hope that the rest of your holiday is a wonderful magical one.

Glad you’re sorted OP.

For other facing ESTA issues, if you have a valid/existing ESTA it should normally prompt you whether you want to proceed as one is already in place (that would prove you have one rather than overwrite it with a new application which cancels the existing one).

Take all that as fact btw... dont check any of it out. You got away lucky
Hee hee that’s so funny. Thanks for that 😘

This was one of the most intense reads! What a horrific morning, I’m glad I didn’t see this as it was happening as I would t have been able to concentrate on anything else. I’m so glad everything has been sorted and you will be on your way tomorrow.

Dreadful situation but a great lesson for everyone else! Sorry you had to be that lesson though 🙁

Hope you have a great holiday

The thing is they could all
Have got on the flight not knowing at that point if my esta had been approved. Could have taken 3 days worse case scenario.

Definitely don’t regret us all sticking together

Just can’t believe it took so long to get approved. Nearly 3 hours x

Ive read the whole thread and my thoughts, probably unpopular with most of the other posters on this thread, are that it seems very foolish, with so much at stake, to depend on an Esta that's only got a few weeks validity remaining rather than spend $14 on a new application.

The length of the validity on the original ESTA has nothing to do with it. It's the fact that, by starting a new application it automatically cancelled the original ESTA. Something that a lot of people (myself included) didn't realise. Anyone could have been caught out by this.

If you had something that was valid, past when you needed it, why on earth WOULD you get a new one? I don't start a new mortgage rate before the old one runs out, I don't order a new credit card before it expires, and I don't buy insurance before that's expired either. If you're covered, you're covered (or not in this case).

Spoken to Aviva my insurance who were incredibly helpful and said to get the clarification from esta that I could have travelled with the esta which was in date and to still push with Norwegian. X
Bit unfair of the car hire to charge you more as you are picking up later 😢

Are Aviva saying they will cover your flight if you can get confirmation of valid ESTA? Surely you didn’t have a valid ESTA as it was cancelled when you started the one you didn’t submit? Or have I misunderstood?

I do hope you can get the insurance to pay, as it was such s genuine mistake which I honestly think anyone could have made. I’m sure I could have, as I did start a new one once and left it, but I then restarted and completed as a group application.

Whatever the outcome with insurance, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and can forget all about this part of it soon. Now go and have a well deserved glass of wine 😀

To be fair, there really isn't much point in buying another esta if you're travelling within the period that's left on your current one and you've no plans to travel to the US after that...that's $14 in your pocket instead of trumps
