Im a cheap date and I don't drink anyway so the lack of alcohol on the flight. I don't actually think dh does either but that's probably because he drives at the other end (we don't sit together, being a 5 we sit 3 and 2).
We don't fly because its enjoyable just a means to an end so I think it's a different experience for us to those that enjoy flying I can see a nice glass of wine while you read or watch a movie is an enjoyable experience.
I can see that it's a very good way to save a bit of money that they are hemorrhaging as is reduced food and these are adjusts for me that I am more than happy to do if it gets me to where I need to be this year and future years.
Also a good way to keep passengers on the straight and narrow. Mask arguments I can imagine would be frequent if passengers were allowed access to alcohol!

We always stay the night at an hotel at the airport then straight through security next morning. So much more relaxed.

BA twilight last Nov was self service. Can't remember the detailed process but you swiped passports, loaded your cases on to the scales, attached luggage tags then got boarding cards. Must have worked as our cases rocked up at MCO next day. Staff there to help if needed.

Stay confident and relaxed. It will all work OK
