Advice re cancelling

Hi just looking for a bit of advice re cancelling our stay for July.

We are looking to cancel our stay as our Disney cruise for July has cancelled so now looking at cancelling our stay at BWV.

Am I correct in that I will not lose these points if I cancel as we are still within a period before we would lose the points.

Are you an owner? When is your use year and which year's points did you use?

Hi yes I am the owner. I used 2019 points and my use year is August.

I would ring DVC and see what they say. Currently you could lose your 2019 points. Although there are a few reports of the points being put into the next year but its not the current policy.

Ok they are your current years� points, but you have missed the banking window. However, this has been extended for April and June use years and may be extended yet for August use years.
There is no advantage to cancelling now unless they make a banking exception now just for you, which I doubt they will but you could ask. If I were betting though, they may shortly allow late banking of August, then you�d want to cancel pre 30 days out in case they decide to reinstate holding.
I would maybe call but assuming they say no late banking now, keep a close eye on it and wait for the anticipated banking being extended to August.
If it doesn�t happen by July 30 days out, consider then cancelling and banking into RCI, or renting the reservation if it�s open to the domestic market- if it is open to Americans you may find it is snapped up.
