We saw a rocket launch from our villa once, you just see a tiny trail of smoke from that far back though

Launch windows change. I follow them on FB and use the SpaceXlaunches app too as I like to watch online.

Seen the Space Shuttle launch and land back in the day. Interesting thing with the landing was the double sonic boom. Still trying to find out why double - any offers.

Worth seeing a launch if you get the opportunity, but are very hit and miss.

Looks like you will be out of luck. That launch has been delayed - again - it was first scheduled for August last year. No new date, but no earlier than September.

This is according to the website 'spaceflightnow' which is updated more quickly/frequently than 'spacecoastlaunches' which is still showing Aug 17. 'spacecoastlaunches' is run by the local Brevard County tourist office, rather than space geeks.

For the best viewing experience you need to be as close as you can to the launch pad, with a clear view of the rocket on the pad, with no trees or buildings in the way. The best location depends on which launch pad they are using. The further away you are, the smaller it will be and the more likely the view will be at least partially obstructed by trees/buildings. It is easier to see it from a distance at night as you can see the rocket plume against the dark sky.
