Even though we’ve sold our original OKW resale contract, we’ve kept our direct BLT contracts. Our usual family unit decreased therefore we didn’t need as many points.

It does sound for us. We have made the decision to put our money towards paying off our help to buy loan however. Not sure its the right decision as we will continue to visit Disney deluxes which seems like wasting money when we could buy DVC. Its just such a big outlay it feels scary to buy.

Hopefully we will feel a bit more financially secure in the future to purchase though.

Thank you for all of your help

You made the right choice, pay off loans before buying a luxury timeshare, you never know what’s around the corner. Stay in Moderate instead, put the money you saved towards that DVC contract.

1 week in a value studio at AKL in the summer is about 81 points or 106 for a standard studio.(just check the points charts)
SO a contract for 150 points would give you 10-14 days roughly every year.
You'd be entitled to buy a dvc gold annual pass and could structure it so that you get 2 holidays from 1 pass.
These passes are heavily discounted (there are blackout dates-beware xmas, easter) AND you can use them for heavily discounted room rates too, so that you can 'supplement'your points booking with a cash booking.

hope that makes sense. You could use a combination of points and cash to book OR go bi annually and carry forward your points so that you have 300 every 2 years.

We usually go late july 1st year (say 31st), buy the gold pass and go early july the next
year so that we finish/end our holiday on/before 31st July.

We now go bi annually with a 135 point contract and bank or borrow as we go. We also availed of the 'free dining' offer for 5 nights at a deluxe or mod. through WDTC We then upgraded our pass on site to gold AP and got 2 hols from it and free dining. SO not a bad deal for us!
