Tom,are all these companies fully insured like said . I have seen some good prices with Auto Europe, with Budget but not sure it is worth chan going just yet as I have a booking with Andy for Alamo at £700 for intermediate SUV. I think there was a price with full cover for £640 for same suv with AE . A bit unsure whether Budget car will be a good 1 or knackered.

All of them are fully Insured. The only one not is the Alamo one via the US website but I have a high discount code so when I add Insurance on it's very close to Brits etc.

I play the maths constantly.

You mention Aute Europe. Excellent company.

Auto Europe

Uscarhire
Usrentacar
Hertz U.K. With the Amex code I have
Alamo US with a big discount code I have then add Insurance
Costco UK
BA with Avis. 7 days for the price of 5

I have another 3 on tabs on my PC but I only use them for research to date. If they come good on prices I will consider them.

Never ignore Netflights they have some excellent prices.

Bear in mind I only need 1 driver.
Thanks for the list.
