Ants on your toothbrush! ? Dear god, I would have been sick! I would have also been in the reception and personally escorting the manager to my room to see it. I would be on the phone to BA and wouldn't be letting up until I was moved somewhere habitable. I hate bugs!

Insist on a cleaner room, stand in reception - first talk quietly and politely- ‘Hi, I’m not a complainer usually, but our room was filthy when we arrived and there are ants getting in to all our stuff, can you arrange for a clean room for us, as I don’t feel it’s really sanitary’ if they give you excuses ‘talk at normally voice and raise your concerns again’ then get a bit louder, hopefully they will take note before your shouting to the whole hotel!
Otherwise talk to BA and ask to be moved?

BA surely have a duty of care for you. I would complain to them while there ,as complaining when you get home often results in them saying that if you didn't make them aware of it at the time then you have accepted the situation. I got bit by ants in the Ramanda Plaza in Kissimmee , I found where the Thomas Cook rep was and went to the welcome meeting to explain. it was memorial weekend so all accommodation was full that night so they made the hotel do a deep clean then moved us on the Monday at no cost it was a pain repacking but worth it.

I agree with not really having time (we felt the same during a hurricane) but actually when I finally got through they were very helpful and they would hopefully move you
Enjoy your holiday!

So. I emailed BA duty office. They replied really quickly. They are. Requested a deep clean of the room and we should be able to move rooms on Monday. Booked up (some real crazy people out there) until Monday. Good job we’re so knackered we’re straight to sleep. Thanks everyone.
