Alamo confirmation says DO NOT go straight to car?

So quick history: I booked an Alamo car through Auto Europe, alls been ok so far, I have printed off the voucher with a bar code, but I just got a confirmation email for tomorrow's pick up and it says in bold writing:

Check-In Instructions

Bring your driver's license and credit card.

Proceed directly to the Alamo counter or self-service kiosk (if available) to obtain your rental agreement. Please do not go directly to the car.

Never had to do this before but it appears it's because the booking is through a third party supplier, ot could it be the class of car, a std SUV?

I'm confused, all the reviews on here say that they have never had a problem with AE / Alamo, do you think I could go to the small desk in the Alamo Garage instead of queuing in the main airport desk? From what I have read the self service kiosks do not always work?

Any info would be appreciated

I’m assuming that the email was from AE. No experience of using AE at MCO but if it’s anything to go by I received a confirmation email from AE regarding a recent trip to Italy saying I had to provide, proof of address- 2 recent utility bills, international driving permit and DVLA Drivers record. None of these were asked for or required.
Unless someone has recent experience saying otherwise if you’ve got the barcode then I would pick a car and go straight to the exit.

If you have done Alamo OLCI and got the Alamo confirmation with barcode ( not AE) then it’s straight to garage, pick car and d.rive to exit. They will do all the paperwork there.

When we booked through AE, I could not see how to get the barcode, only to check in, which meant we couldn't go straight to the garage. After searching all the Dibber advice, I finally found a way around it

PPM has summed it up. Usual Alamo nonsense ref information.
Ignore the desk and kiosks and go straight to the garage.

All 3rd Party suppliers customers can do this be it Virgin, Andy , Auto Europe and Netflights etc.

What Auto Europe has done is send out a generic E Mail that applies to rentals Worldwide and is informing customers to do what is the norm. However the norm doesn't apply to a lot of US Airport locations.

Hi guys, sorry had a busy day and travelling down to Gatwick

The email was from Alamo, you know, the complimentary one reminding you you have a reservation.

I do have a barcode printed off the Alamo website, it's just not the regular skip the counter notification.

Just got back from Florida. My OLCI Alamo confirmation (booked through Auto Europe) did have a barcode and also the words, 'Do not proceed directly to car' even though I had done OLCI. I went to the kiosk and didn't think about ignoring it. I'll know for next time.

Update; you were right guys, went straight to garage showed the barcode at the exit barrier and straight out!
