they have done away with the kiosks a couple of years ago

they also have done away with fingerprints, as it's now facial recognition

and they also have gotten rid of that blue customs form you had to either fill on the plane, or fill on the screen of the kiosk

We last used the automated kiosks at MCO in April 2018. They'd gone when we entered in Nov 2018. Also not seen or been asked for the customs form for at least 2 years.

We had a chatty IO in that Nov who basically confirmed what all of us regular Dibbers already knew - that they were a waste of time and money.

It seemed to me that the majority of Dibbers had to repeat most of the processes undertaken by the kiosk. We always got a black cross because we declare coffee but others got the cross for less than 6 months on p/p and others for unclear fingerprints.

Everyone had to see an IO anyway, black cross or not, as it's the IO that permitted entry not a machine.
