Carers allowance advice

Hi, i am wondering if anyone can help at all please. My mum is my 18yr old sisters carer and currently receives carers allowance and my sister gets pip (not sure what levels). She has asbergers and a personality disorder. My sister currently attends a college course and is about to attend a paid placement (we dont think she will cope with this). I am not sure how much she will earn from this. Will this mean my mum will lose her carers allowance? Mum still has to take her and pick her up from placement and does pretty much everything for her. Carers Allowance would be affected by your mums earnings rather than your sister’s. If your sister receives benefits it would be those that potentially could be affected by earnings.

That is my understanding as I was unable to receive for my son due to earning above their threshold. The Carers Allowance Helpline would be able to put your mum’s mind at rest, the number is 08007310297.

It is your mums income that counts.

Your sister can work and that won’t affect your mums allowance.

Thanks everyone. My mum doesnt work at all due to my sisters needs. They can vary day to day.
