I agree with everyone else, Jersey is gorgeous and there’s loads to do. I spent a summer season working as a receptionist at St Brelade’s Camping Park in 1987 when I was a student, sadly I think the campsite is now a housing estate but I have such vivid memories of my time on the island. I’m sure not everything has changed - I have a little look every now and then and would love to go back now I have a car and more money!
The beach at St Brelade’s Bay is gorgeous and there are so many lovely walks. I was a volunteer steward at the Battle of the Flowers which was great fun 🙂

I love the St Brelade area, L’Horizon is lovely but I don’t pay rack rate (very expensive and hotel doesn’t merit the rack rate), St Brelade Bay hotel is also very nice. I also like St Aubin and have stayed at the Somerville overlooking the harbour.
Total luxury is Longueville Manor (service is faultless) but it’s off a main road so location isn’t great.
I am still looking at hotels and am trying to talk myself in to the L'Horizon ! The best price I have found for 5 nights in August is £1158. I know you said on your post that you do not think it is is worth rack rate and am trying to decide if it is worth this. Is this figure what you would call rack rate ? I can get the Grand Hotel Jersey (same group) for £900. Thanks.

Just my opinion but if it's your first time then I would pay to stay at l'horizon, the location is stunning. The Grand is superior in rating but is less due to location, it's on the main road into st Helier, but very good location if you're not driving as the bus station is a 10 min (max) walk.

Thank you. I have booked our flights now and had have increased the trip to 6 nights. I have my short list of hotels- The L’Horizon, The Grand and Radisson Blu. I think I will hold off for the hotel for now and look out in the hope of finding some offers !

Thank you to all who gave suggestions. I have booked the L'Horizon. It was expensive even with a 15% ebookers discount code but son and daughter aren't coming so that makes it half price straight away !

I first went to Jersey for my 11th birthday 41 years ago. went back ages 12 and 15. Although it was a long time ago I have very fond memories of the place. Possibly along with Quebec for me my favourite of holiday destinations I have visited.

Thank you. That's good to hear. Everyone has been saying how lovely a place it is and it's just a bit of a different holiday for us.
