Yellowstone accommodation

Can anyone recommend reasonable -price and standard- accommodation for (near rather than in) Yellowstone? There doesn’t seem to be much choice and what there is seems extortionate for little in the way of amenities.
Thanks in advance

I think the difficulty with Yellowstone is that there is a relatively short window to visit so places get booked up quickly so rather basic accommodation is so expensive. I did find some really lovely looking Air BnB’s when I was looking which seemed reasonable so may be a way around it?

We stayed here...yellowstonenationalparkl...-hotel-cabins/

depends what month you are going as to how pricey. Just be careful that you are not spending a lot of time driving to get into Yellowstone. Its a stunner!

Very helpful, thank you. We are now looking at perhaps splitting between mammoth lakes and west Yellowstone- partly based on cost and partly on facilities. Has anyone else done this?

:)

We stayed in a Mammoth Hot Springs cabin last year which was nice & cosy. It was about 40 minutes drive from there to Lamar Valley. If you do decide to stay there, be sure to book only through Xanterra.
In 2015 we stayed at the Best Western Weston Inn in West Yellowstone the night before going into Yellowstone. At the time it was the cheapest of the Best Westerns there. It was fine & only a minute or so from the Park entrance. We still talk about a delicious breakfast we had at the Running Bear Pancake House in West Yellowstone!
From West Yellowstone it's roughly an hour's drive to either Norris Geyser Basin or to the Old Faithful area. The Park is huge! This map has mileage info between the main areas in the Park:
nps.gov/yell/planyourvis...ff_Map2016.pdf
To get an idea of rough drive times, you should double the number of miles you've got to travel ie. 20 miles would take about 40 minutes, or more if you get stuck in an "animal jam"!
Happy to help if you have any questions about Yellowstone or Grand Teton.

We did do a split and also stayed at old Faithful Inn - really regret that, it was awful!

We stayed in silver gate about a five minute drive outside the park and a phenomenal place, had three bears within 5 minutes of driving in from this entrance.
We booked via vrbo.com and stayed in a wonderful cabin, which had bison in the garden !
