You have an excellent point, that’s the whole reason of getting smaller cases so it’s easy to manage on and off the train as well as overhead lockers. I will need to bear that in mind as I do have a tendency to overpack and if the case is big, I will fill it 😂

For essential liquids you can click and collect at boots airside. That bypasses security.

I did look into this, but there doesn’t seem to be a Boots at Bristol airport. There is a Superdrug though so I will check out if they do a click and collect, I would imagine they do
