I am not going to lie I B***** love alcohol, the taste, the relaxing affect etc
I drink less now than I used to as DH doesn’t drink much. I tend not to drink at least 3 days a week . I am a wine and whisky drinker |

Good on you . I tend to share a bottle of wine with DH on a Friday and Saturday night and don't really drink spirits anymore. I really hate being drunk so tend to avoid it and just have a small amount to enjoy feeling mellow .

Good luck - this time of year is hard !
I generally don’t drink until Friday or Saturday then in the evening if out. There are always exceptions such but I don’t beat myself up if I slip - i just don’t drink on a Saturday instead. I also no longer have any alcohol at home and don’t serve it to guests. I buy alcohol free gin for friends but I prefer iced water myself . Mine was purely for health reasons - borderline diabetic . I have lost a heck of a lot or weigh (48w to 36w in a year) and not lost any friends by my strict routine It’s important to find out what works for you - we are all very different. Mine was trial and error but I am as stubborn as a mule and function better with a strict routine |

I think it’s a brilliant idea! We all know alcohol & sweet stuffs no good for us so cutting down is a big bonus for your health and let’s not forget the money you will save and the inches you will loose! It’s a win, win situation !
Good luck I think I will try to cut out the sweet stuff until Christmas... but I won’t hold my breath |

Good luck, I hope you do well.
I am at a complete loss, I was supposed to lose weight and try to stop drinking for our holiday to Tenerife which is in 11 days. I have just lost about 2lb at the most, I am disgusted with myself. As for the drinking, I only last a couple of days and then I either see a programme where they are drinking wine, or we go to friends and I am offered a glass of wine and bingo, I drink. I would dearly love to give up drinking, great at the time but that's it. We are going all inclusive to Tenerife and the cocktails are amazing...… I would like to say I am going to be good, but I know I wont. When we get back I am really going to try. Hope you do well. xxx

Threads like this make me think that most people do drink at home most nights - is this really the norm? I always assume that the drinking issues seen in the press are people socialising a lot, and having a party lifestyle.
We have kids that are out at activities until 9pm 4 out of 5 weekdays, then often early weekend mornings too. Drinking at home doesn't cross the radar and nights are are few and far between. Pre-kids seems a long, long time ago now, and even then we didn't drink at home, but we did drink more as we went out more. |
