I love my first name, Carolyn, although most folk are totally incapable of pronouncing it correctly even though I introduce myself with the correct pronunciation - Ca-ro-LYN - I am frequently called Caroline. I tend to do my fruit a bit and correct them quite pointedly. Even family members get it wrong, which so irritates me!
My mum always used to tell me I was named after a famous film star from the 1950s, although she then couldn't remember which one …….. But I love the story, anyway! And with a quite long and double barrelled surname, it can be a challenge that some people who have to call me forward for an appointment or something fail to meet successfully ….. Anyway, contrastingly I really loathe my middle name. What were my parents thinking?

I'm a Carolyn too😃. I always tell people I'm a Lynny and not a Liney. The actress you mention could be Carolyn Jones. I think she appeared in the Addams Family tv series. My mother was going to call me Caroline after Caroline Kennedy but opted for the more American Carolyn.

I hate mine. It’s was a very odd choice for the era I think.
And apparently it’s the name of my father’s ex girlfriend whom my grandmother waxed lyrical about for the entirety of my parents marriage. So weird 🤦🏼

Do you? I feel like I should be much older with my name.
*The real one or Vanillapod?! Vanillapod would be fairly unique 😆 My husband just calls me Julie! DS had a lovely Russian childminder who used to open the door to me each night, sort of pull me inside and say ‘Julie, you come!’ I never felt I could correct her so I stuck with it 😆 Edited at 05:26 PM. |

Glamorous?!
I just think of the drunk wine critic! 😆 There’s the clue! *No offence to anyone of the same name btw! I bet you never found any personalised notepads and rubbers in gift shops either! Ooh, I feel I could reinvent myself now with something much more exciting on the Dibb! Edited at 05:30 PM. |
