We had a power flush on our system approx 10 years ago and the black sludge etc which was removed was gross
They fitted a magnet thing to remove any extra particles as well as some chemicals to keep the pipes clean This year (10 years later), I had a new boiler fitted and as part of the preparation the system was power washed again All of the fluid which came out was crystal clear so no increase in sludge since the original power flush. My boiler was 17 years old and I ended up replacing it in March as my old boiler had broken down 3 times last winter and they were struggling to get parts for it I used British Gas and had an excellent engineer who rang me the day before he was due to start to run through things I was refunded the cost of copper piping that they quoted for but didn't use (275). The engine also replaced some radiator valves and pump which I wasn't charged for It took 3 days All of the waste was collected from my house , I also had the hot water tank re placed whilst the system was drained as it was the existing one in the house when we moved in in 1984. I took the old copper cylinder, pipe work and boiler to our local scrap metal merchant and got £71 for it. Edited at 12:26 AM. Reason: Spelling |
