Cheap first night hotel required
We usually spend our first nights at the Hard Rock Universal but it feels like a huge waste of money for the first night when we will be getting their late afternoon at best losing most the benefits for that day.
So are plan is to spend the first night at a different much cheaper hotel and go to the Hard Rock first thing next morning. Any recommendations on somewhere close to both the airport. I obviously have to factor in I am going to have two giddy kids who will want to do something so we might drive to the park (Universal) but if they had one site pool / things to do then this would be great. Will need parking as well. Any recommendations |

I’d stay at IDrive rather than the airport.
You could even head for City Walk for a meal if you wanted . Plenty of cheap options and stuff around to do even if you don’t want to drive . If you stay at the airport, we really liked the Staybridge , one bedroom suites so 2 TVs and a kitchen , good if you have some who crash early and some who wake early , plus no hunting for an early morning cuppa. All hotels have pools . |

I've stayed at the Staybridg suites on MCO, nice place. Lots of space.
Perhaps somewhere like the Rosen on I drive? I'd also agree with Duchy, I'd go for idrive rather than the airport. Much closer to Universal. Or Endless Summer, Cabana bay? |

I'd do Cabana Bay or Endless Summer. That way there is easy transport to citywalk if you wanted it.

I’m going to stay at a Disney value hotel for the first night of my Disney trip next year. If I were going to Universal, I would check into one of the cheaper, non express pass hotels for the first night.

I'd probably look for chap hotel on i-drive only. The Avanti international or Rosen Inn (nearest Univrsal) next door are normally cheap and you could walk to endless summer and sortout tickets if you need to exchange them, or get the bus to universal from there.
