We go to China next October with a private tour.

They have given us a letter to apply for our Visa with which I’ll do nearer the time, our plan is to fill in as much as we can online and then visit the embassy to obtain our Visa. There is one in Manchester so we’ll sort there. I think they need to take fingerprints now so don’t know if there is anyway to do this online with third party companies?

We are looking to do a day in Shanghai and also Hong Kong Disney. I have had a quick look and looks like you can do these online beforehand. You pick a date and that looks like it’s priced dependant on time of year/crowd levels. I’ve not progressed it to purchase but it looks like it will let me get so far.

Hope you have a great time, can’t wait to visit.

I am looking at going in February. Looking at booking the Disney hotel and park tickets direct with Disney. As for a visa, we've been to China before with a visa, this time we will use the Shanghai 144 hour visa deal. We are only planning 1 night in Shanghai, we arrive 6.45am on the Sunday and fly to Thailand 21.40 on the Monday. Plenty of time for us that is

I went in October. Getting a tourist visa is very quick. It’s all done online:
1. Complete online form
2. Schedule appointment at visa centre (done on same website as online form)
3. Attend visa appointment with documentation
4. Pick up passport after a few days with the visa

Shout if you have any questions.
