cauliflower and broccoli cheese was a life saver for our son. And mac and cheese type pastas whilst he got used to chewing. Risotto is another soft meal full of flavour and can get loads of veggies in it.
Infact son has his braces off tomorrow, whoop! |

I honestly don’t think you need to change anything.
Obviously a bowl of granola for breakfast might not be great but aside from soup on the first night, I think DS ate normally with his. Lumps weren’t an issue as long as they weren’t hard lumps. OH just reminded me that obviously corn on the cob was out along with crusty bread and that apples had to be cut up We only had one broken bracket issue when he stupidly ate a toffee at a Halloween Party 🤦🏼 Edited at 10:33 AM. |

Oh Lord. Both my son's have just been referred for a brace. I didn't even think about what they might or might not be able to eat! Am having a panic about granola now!

Thanks everyone for the ideas. Will definitely look at the pastes etc, especially as we have to go back to the hospital again today (3rd time since Monday) as dd felt something ‘ping’ in her mouth last night. Another 144 km round journey

Dd has had hers for 12 weeks now. She struggled the first night with pain so it was soup then pasta the next day. After that she was totally fine. She doesnt eat toffee type things or haribo etc but other than that shes totally normal. I did buy her a water pick to make sure shes getting round the brackets clean.

just a thought, would a water flosser help with getting bits out?
amazon/BESTOPE-Pro...nguag e=en_GB i bought one last year after suffering with gum disease for years, and in the last 6 months, the hygenist said i could literally be the poster boy for waterpik. it manages to get *all* the little food fragments out from in between your teeth without the hassle of using them little flossing stick things (which i have problems using on all my teeth) (its not a waterpik, its a cheap knock-off, but it does the job nicely!) *edit* just saw toots reply above. jinx! you owe me a coke!
