I feel for you and for your husband it must be difficult for him, it seems like he is feeling bad about the weight issues but isn't ready to tackle them just yet. As you say people have to do it in their own time. It is very hard to have a great holiday when you have different ideas about what you want to do, husband and I have had a few differences in our holiday style in the past. I am one of those that wants to run around doing everything I possibly can and he needs a bit more relax time and time to get into it. Our compromise was to stay on a resort where there were things for me to do on my own when he wanted more relax time but I have found that as we go on more trips the situation has improved.

It really does spoil the holiday when you have someone dragging their feet and not wanting to get involved. Don't have much to suggest in the way of things to do - possibly go to the cinema on a rest day or perhaps an airboat ride. Celebration town is a nice place to visit for a walk around and a bite to eat at the town tavern.

I hope things improve for future holidays

I kind of guessed it was his weight.
There are rides he could've done at Universal AND he will be OK on 99% of the Disney rides too.
Take him to some of the shows at Disney (muppets, mickeys philharminc etc-you'll need tickets to get into the parks though )or Splitsville (bowling at downtown disney) or eat-in movie at downtowndisney (where you get food & drinks in special seats with waitress service before and during the movie)-Bit of a novelty!
OR why not take him to rainforest cafe or t-rex cafe(fabulous theming) again, both at downtown disney so YOU DONT NEED DISNEY TIX to go to any of the pace at downtowndisney PLUS you can always take him on the boats at DTD back to Old Key West resort or Port Oreans Riverside -just to have a walk around and look at the resorts OR even take a horse drawn carriage ride at Port Orleans riverside.

You can use the disney buses to drop you off at the parks and then either take buses to other resorts to see them (animal kingdom lodge is a must-jambo house-amazing) or take the monorail to the contemporary or polynesian resorts just to have a look.

You dont need disney park tickets to do any of this and it may prove to be quite interesting and a bit different!

Hope it all works out. Just be extra patient until it gets sorted.

I write this hoping things have continued to improve!

How about a baseball game? - apologies if this was mentioned in your p-t.

The Tampa Bay Rays are playing "at home" (Tropicana Field) almost all this week. It is a good 3-4 hours at the ballpark and lots of fun for sports-lovers. It is also INSIDE and air-conditioned. Maybe he could do the research? Website below for info, "tickets" easily spotted:

tampabay.rays.mlb

I will send one up for you!

We are both overweight, me more than DH. I am size 28 and did loads of rides. Admittedly when we went in Dec 2010 it was freezing cold (minus 2 most days, we rarely took our thick winter coats off) so the heat wasn't a problem.

I can't function in the heat so I am hoping it won't be too bad in November.

I feel abit sorry for the big fella, horrible being conscious about your weight ...

Let's hope this trip spurs him on to lose the weight u did and make the next trip more memorable for the right reasons ...

Trouble with us blokes is that when we get the hump it's easier to continue it then admit you've been a goon and snap out of it ?

Enjoy the rest of your trip

We went on a helicopter ride from Kissimmee. - just past the Nike outlet on the 192 next to a church, it was amazing seeing everything from up above - would highly recommend.
I do sympathise with the weight issue, I have lost 21/2 stone so far and know I will enjoy our holiday all the more for it- my hubby is on the large side and couldn't get on the Harry potter ride which put him in a bad mood!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday, maybe some slower paced days ?

Do hope you have some better days and focus on that "list" you both made, that sounded positive. We are going with friends whose hubby is larger and very tall and I am not sure what effect it will have but he is a jolly soul but is likely to get embarrassed on occasion I think.
Try and focus on the beautiful detail, shows and the stuff that has nothing to do with weight- being together and not AT WORK!
