When you think of the capital employed in the business - the land, film rights etc, plus the vast expense of the ongoing upkeep, improvement and development of the parks, plus costs and expenses, I should think they need to squeeze as much as poss out of visitors to show a decent profit. I don't think they are making money "hand over fist".

Unless and until we know how much profit Disney actually makes and how commensurate it is with the capital employed, 3rd party investment etc we cannot say they are money-grabbing or greedy.

In 2014 the Walt Disney Company made $10.7 billion profit of which the theme parks (worldwide) contributed $2.2 billion (nearly 21%).

As a whole the Walt Disney Corporation is estimates to be worth $163 billion

In very basic, back of an envelope calculations, does that work out at about 6.50% ?

Yes, some of it will have been used to further enhance the parks, providing a better experience for guests (and, hopefully, leading to more profit in the future).

Some of it will have been given to the shareholders and owners.

Well, $10.7 billion compared to $163 billion is about 6.5%, yes. These are the figures for the whole of Disney, not just the theme parks.

I'm not sure what that tells you, though? We don't know what Disney's revenue was.
