Mediterranean cruises - when to book?
we are looking at booking a Mediterranean cruise for August 2017 from Rome/Barcelona/Venice preferably. We don't really mind who we travel with but would like some teen spaces/activities (as travelling with 2 15 year olds). Would it be cheaper to book now or wait for a late deal this time next year? We would need 2 inside cabins. Any companies we should avoid?

When I have booked a cruise - they have only ever gone up in price the closer they get .
But I have only been with Disney , so not sure about other companies

I think all companies are the same, we have cruised with Disney, RC & MSC and in our experience they've only ever gone up and then if there are any cabins left they get sold off cheaper very near the sail date.
Only thing I would say is that if you want cabins next door to each other / inter-connecting book earlier because you may run the risk of being seperated with a late booking.

We often get late availability cruises at knock down prices but are flexible on itinerary, cruise line and dates.
If you want any certainty about your cruise - date, grade of cabin, itinerary etc book ASAP. Cruise lines use dynamic pricing and off peak deals are common especially after final payment date. Where demand is higher eg school holiday periods, deals are rare. Another point to consider is flight prices, our experience is that the nearer to the flight the higher the price - so that last minute cruise deal to the Caribbean is cancelled out by higher air fare.
